Description

Located at the southern end of Camano Island, this property is 20 acres of forested bluff. The Land Trust is working with the landowner to protect the property’s natural features and wildlife habitat from development. The high bluffs have natural erosion and the debris that falls down to the shoreline helps provide food sources and hiding places for forage fish, like smelt and herring. Those smaller fish, in turn, become the primary food source for juvenile salmon. The property also includes a Big Leaf Maple and red alder forest, a rare forest type in the Pacific Northwest.
